Croux Community Guidelines

Last Updated November 17, 2025

This guide is designed to help Talent optimize their experience on the Croux platform.

By using the platform, you acknowledge that you are an independent contractor—not an employee, agent, joint venturer, or partner of Croux. As an independent contractor, you have full discretion over which shifts you apply for and accept, how you perform the work (within any requirements set by the business), and when and where you work. Nothing in this guide should be interpreted as creating an employment relationship with Croux.

Although you are not an employee of Croux, the quality of your performance directly impacts the experience of our business partners and the overall reputation of the Croux platform. These guidelines are intended to support you in delivering high-quality work, building trust with businesses, and maximizing your earning potential—while helping us uphold the standards that make Croux a trusted resource for flexible work.

All recommendations in this Guide are suggestions to help you succeed—they are not instructions or requirements imposed by Croux.

How to Succeed on Croux and Maximize Your Opportunities

Croux talent can increase the likelihood they are selected for shifts and optimize their earning potential by following these recommendations:

Breaks and Shift Practices

As an independent professional, you are responsible for managing your own work schedule, including taking breaks as you deem necessary for your well-being and productivity. For on-site engagements, you are expected to professionally coordinate any breaks with the Business User to ensure their service needs are met.

Croux Badges

Badges are recognitions awarded by businesses to highlight your strengths and standout qualities on the job. These badges reflect the professionalism, skills, and attitude you bring to your shifts.

Earning badges not only boosts your Trust Score, but also increases your visibility and likelihood of being selected for future opportunities. The more badges you earn, the more you stand out to business partners when they’re choosing with whom to work.

Examples of badges include:

Badges are awarded at the discretion of the business partner based on their experience working with you during a shift. While badges aren’t guaranteed, consistently performing at a high level increases your chances of earning them.

Background Re-Checks and Eligibility

To maintain ongoing access to the Platform, you may be asked to complete a periodic background re-check (for example, annually). If you do not complete a required re-check within the stated timeframe, your access to new shifts may be paused until the re-check is successfully completed.

Ability to Perform Shift Requirements

Before accepting any shift, review the job description carefully and make sure you are capable of completing all listed duties safely and independently. This may include physical requirements (e.g., standing for long periods, lifting objects, or moving around quickly in a busy environment).

By accepting a shift, you confirm that you can meet all the listed requirements without additional on-site assistance.

If you accept a shift and are unable to complete it due to undisclosed limitations, this will be treated as a performance issue, not a medical matter, and may impact your ability to book future shifts.

Behavior Expectations and Infractions

Infractions refer to behaviors that violate the Croux community standards. These actions may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal from the platform, depending on the severity and frequency. Below are some examples of infractions that may result in suspension or removal from the platform:

Respect & Professional Conduct

At Croux, we’re building a community based on respect and professionalism. Everyone deserves to feel safe and valued on the job. That means:

What Happens If There's a Violation

Croux provides a formal process for reporting issues, including safety concerns, discrimination or harassment, policy violations, or shift disputes.

We take every report seriously. Depending on the situation, Croux may:

Repeated issues, even if minor on their own, may result in suspension or removal.

All reports and investigations are handled in accordance with our Complaints Policy.

Clocking In and Out: Expectations and Adjustments

Talent are expected to clock in and out at the scheduled shift start and end times. Clocking in late or clocking out early will result in pay adjustments to reflect actual time worked.

If you start work before the scheduled start time or work past the scheduled end time, additional compensation will only be issued if approved by both the business and Croux.

All pay-related questions or requests must be submitted through the Dispute Pay function in the app. Requests submitted outside this channel may not be reviewed or approved.

Pay, Timekeeping & Disputes

Croux is committed to ensuring fair, timely, and accurate compensation. To help us process pay quickly and correctly, please review the following requirements:

1. Scheduled Time vs. Actual Time Worked. You will be automatically paid for the scheduled start and end time of your shift based on your verified clock-in and clock-out records.

2. When You Must File a Pay Dispute. Any time worked before the scheduled start time or after the scheduled end time requires you to submit a Pay Dispute in the app. This ensures:

If you do not submit a Pay Dispute for extra time, Croux may only pay the scheduled shift duration.

3. How to Submit a Dispute. All pay-related questions or adjustments must be submitted through the Dispute Pay feature in the Croux app. Requests sent via text, email, or any other channel may not be received, reviewed, or processed — and may not result in payment adjustments.

4. Timing Requirements. You must submit any dispute within 7 days of the shift. Late or improperly submitted disputes may not be eligible for review.

5. Approvals for Extra Time. Payment for time worked outside the scheduled shift window requires:

Once approved, payment will be processed according to our standard payout timelines. Please note that Croux relies on timely confirmation from our business partners to verify extra time, and delays in their response may impact when adjustments are issued.

Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) Deduction (Required for All Croux Talent)

To help protect Talent while working shifts, Croux provides Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI). OAI is a type of coverage commonly used for independent contractors and is required by our business partners. It offers limited financial protection in the event of an on-the-job injury — things like medical expenses, disability benefits, or accidental death benefits, depending on the situation. Because Croux is a technology platform and not an employer, this is not workers’ compensation. Instead, it is a required form of coverage for all Talent who choose to use the platform.

To fund this protection, Croux deducts $0.50 per hour of time worked on each shift. Time is rounded up to the next full hour when OAI is calculated. For example, if you work 2 hours and 10 minutes, the OAI deduction will be $1.50 (3 hours × $0.50).
This deduction applies to every shift and is taken automatically before payout.

Zero-Tolerance for Circumventing Timekeeping Systems

We have a zero-tolerance policy for any attempts to manipulate or circumvent our automated timekeeping system. This includes, but is not limited to, fraudulent clock-ins or clock-outs, intentionally misrepresenting clock-in or clock-out times, or any other form of timekeeping manipulation.

Consequences for violation: Any user—whether business or talent—found attempting to circumvent this system will be subject to immediate and permanent suspension from the Croux platform.

Violations of Croux's Terms & Conditions

The success of the Croux community depends on our talent demonstrating high levels of professionalism and reliability. Infractions will result in severe penalties.

You will be ineligible to work during your suspension. If you have been hired for shifts that occur during your suspension window, you will be automatically removed from them.

No-shows will result in permanent suspension from Croux and removal from any upcoming shifts. You should cancel within the app as soon as you know you will be unable to make a shift.‍

Late canceling on your first shift will result in a permanent suspension from Croux.

Tardiness will result in a 7-day suspension from Croux for "Rookie" level talent. Talent above the "Rookie" level will incur a 3-day suspension. Regardless of your rank, 3 tardies within a 30-day period will result in a 30-day suspension. Your pay will be docked for any missed time. If you are going to be late, letting the business know ahead of time can reduce the severity of any penalties.

First shift cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will result in a 30-day suspension.

Deceitful behavior, such as ghost clocking (clocking in and out of a shift without working), will result in permanent suspension from Croux.

Theft, sexual harassment, and violence will result in removal from all shifts and permanent suspension from Croux.

If placed on three or more “Do Not Hire” lists by Business Users, your account will be permanently suspended.

Permanently suspended talent will not be eligible to receive bonuses.

Taxes

All Croux talent are 1099 contractors. This means taxes will not be withheld in your paychecks. We recommend you set aside 15.3% each paycheck for taxes to be filed and paid next year. By picking up shifts through the Croux app, you accept responsibility for filing your taxes accurately. Tax documents will be mailed to you from Stripe if your annual earnings exceed $600.

IMPORTANT: How to Prepare for Your Shifts

While the shift opportunities will vary, your ability to have a terrific experience and leave a positive impression after each shift always begins with preparation. With that in mind, we highly recommend that each talent reviews the following details before picking up a shift at a new business.

What to do BEFORE your shift:

What to do WHEN YOU ARRIVE at your shift:

What to do DURING your shift (and how to get a great rating from the business):

What to do AT THE END of your shift:

What to do AFTER your shift:

Capability and Safety Confirmation

Before accepting any shift, review the job description carefully. By accepting a shift, you confirm that you are capable of performing all required tasks safely and independently. If you believe you may need an adjustment to meet a role’s requirements, contact Croux before accepting the shift. While Croux is not an employer and does not provide formal accommodations, we may work with the business partner to explore reasonable options.

Deleting Your Account

If you delete your Croux account while in good standing and later decide to return to Croux, we will restore your original account. However, creating a new account to bypass suspensions or infractions is not permitted and will result in the new account being denied. Permanently suspended talent will not be allowed back onto the platform. Croux takes violations of our community guidelines seriously and reserves the right to deny access to any user who has breached our Terms of Use.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to your use of the Croux platform is governed by the arbitration and class-action waiver provisions of the Croux Terms of Use.

The Croux Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines form a single, binding agreement governing your use of the Platform. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Use will control.
